Dr. Motaz Alfarraj

Dr. Motaz is an Assistant Professor in the Electrical Engineering Department at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM). He is the Chairman of the Information and Computer Science Department from August 2023. He was the Founding Director of the SDAIA-KFUPM Joint Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (JRC-AI) between September 2021 until August 2023. He earned his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta in December 2025, and December 2019, respectively. His research interests lie in the areas of image processing, deep learning, and computer vision.
